GC: everX Posterior awarded as "Quality Innovation of the Year"

GC, the specialist in innovative filling technologies, has created a high-performance material that opens up new options for filling large cavities: everX Posterior. The innovativeness of the glass fibre-reinforced composite is going to be awarded by the Finnish Quality Association as “Quality Innovation of the Year” – and, additionally, as “Innovation of Innovations”. These honours continue the success story of everX Posterior, and impressively confirm GC’s claims regarding high quality standards. The awards will be presented in Stockholm on 20th January 2014.

The “Quality Innovation of the Year” competition has been organised by the Finnish Quality Association since 2007[1][1]. Initially started as a national competition of Finland, it has been expanded to include Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Hungary and the Czech Republic by now. Past winners of the “Quality Innovation of the Year” competition include STX Finland Oy for the worlds largest cruise ship “Oasis of the Seas” (2009), Rovio Entertainment Ltd for developing the well-known Angry Birds game (2011) or Volvo Construction Equipment (2012)[2][2]. The respective awards ceremony will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, on 20th January 2014.

GC’s subsidiary Stick Tech Ltd, a Finnish high tech company dedicated to the advancement of minimally invasive dentistry and responsible for the development of everX Posterior, filed in an application with everX Posterior in the category “Micro-enterprise“ (turnover below 2 million Euro and personnel up to 10 employees). The qualification criteria included sub-categories such as innovativeness (novelty value, usability, and learning) and quality (customer orientation, effectiveness). Among the total of 32 categories, the local quality associations of the 6 countries selected a total of 19 innovations to be awarded. The outcome, everX Posterior, was chosen as the winner in the “Micro-enterprise” category in Finland and, in addition, as the “Innovation of Innovations”. Furthermore, everX Posterior was previously recognised as finalist of the Innovation Award (Prix de l’Innovation) at the latest edition of the Annual Meeting of ADF (French Dental Association) in Paris and won the “Top of Pragodent Award” for operatory products at the 2013 Pragodent fair in Prague (Czech Republic).

The awards impressively pursue the success story of GC and the company’s high claims regarding quality: Just recently, GC Europe became one of the 10 official champions for the EFQM (European Foundation of Quality Management) Excellence Award 2013 – as the first dental company in the world to reach this top 10 finalist status

everX Posterior is especially suitable for large cavities of the posterior area; it allows for the immediate treatment of large and extended defects. It is used as a substitute for dentine – in combination with a conventional composite as a substitute for enamel – and is the dental specialist’s answer to an increasing demand for a low-cost treatment alternative for large restorations. Short glass fibres effectively prevent fractures occasionally appearing within the final filling, and eventually propagating to the tooth structure. To achieve high-aesthetic appearance and strong wear resistance, everX Posterior should always be covered with a light-curing universal composite, such as one from the GC G-ænial product family.
